MEETING BETWEEN PRESIDENT XHAFERI AND H.E. SERGEI BAZDNIKIN
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, met today with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, H.E. Sergei Bazdnikin.
President Xhaferi assessed that the bilateral relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Russian Federation are characterized by friendship, principled cooperation and openness, as well as opportunities for deepening parliamentary cooperation, which will contribute to enhancing cooperation in other areas. He informed about the upcoming activities of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia – the formation of delegations and parliamentary groups for cooperation, including the Parliamentary Group for Cooperation with the Parliament of the Russian Federation.
Ambassador Bazdnikin congratulated Xhaferi on his re-election as President of the Assembly and on the successful parliamentary elections. He called for further mutual promotion of the overall cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of North Macedonia, based on equality, respect and mutual acceptance, emphasizing that the country's NATO membership should not affect friendly bilateral relations.
President Xhaferi and Ambassador Bazdnikin stressed they share the determination for continuity and promotion of economic cooperation and trade, as well as for expanding cooperation in numerous fields of mutual interest for the citizens of the two countries.
The meeting also exchanged information on the situation with the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as addressing its consequences. The interlocutors referred to the possibilities for advancing the parliamentary dialogue between the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, both bilaterally and within the international parliamentary assemblies in which the two countries are members.
Ambassador Bazdnikin presented President Xhaferi with a letter of congratulations from the President of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin on his election as President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as the Statement of the State Duma on the 75th anniversary of the United Nations.
