MEETING BETWEEN PRESIDENT XHAFERI AND MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT BALLA AND STERJOVSKI
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, met today with a mixed delegation from the Republic of Albania, including current MPs from the Albanian Parliament, Taulant Balla and Vasil Sterjovski, and the Mayor of Prrenjas, Nuri Belba and businessman Gjergj Luca.
The conversation was aimed at sharing work experiences of the two legislatures and ways to adjust their work in this time of pandemic, when health risks require changing the established ways while maintaining normal functioning, so that neither the state nor the citizens suffer consequences.
MP Balla, who was leading the delegation, explained the purpose of the mixed composition and stressed that, although the political relations and cooperation between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Albania are excellent, without open issues and at all levels, the volume of Albanian Investments in North Macedonia is small. For this reason, the delegation included the mayor of the Municipality of Prrenjas, whose residents actively work in our country, and the businessman Luca, who is open for new collaborations.
President Xhaferi confirmed that this is exactly the role of politics, to create conditions for the smooth movement of people, goods and capital, so that the citizens of both countries can have a better life.
The interlocutors also shared their thoughts and hopes for the unimpeded holding of the European Commission intergovernmental conferences with the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Albania, considering it is essential to use the momentum of the current German presidency which will officially mark the beginning of negotiations for full membership in the European Union.
