MEETING BETWEEN PRESIDENT XHAFERI AND ROSSANA DUDZIAK

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, met today with the UN Resident Coordinator in Republic of North Macedonia, Rossana Dudziak. Information and ideas were exchanged at the meeting on how to deepen cooperation between the United Nations and the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, especially in regard with the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.

President Xhaferi expressed gratitude to the United Nations agencies in the Republic of North Macedonia for the activities they are implementing in the country, as well as for their cooperation with the working bodies of the Assembly and the informal parliamentary support groups. UN Resident Coordinator Rossana Dudziak referred to the "United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2021-2025 with the Republic of North Macedonia" as a key document and a collective offer of the UN system to support the country in addressing key challenges for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda. The main focus is on upgrading the initiated activities in the field of transparent and accountable democratic governance, social inclusion, environmental protection, promotion of gender equality, balanced regional development, etc.

The meeting discussed the possibility of establishing an informal working group for sustainable development in the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, which would include Members from all parliamentary groups and would be technically supported by the UN Resident Coordinator Office.

The interlocutors agreed that the fruitful cooperation of the UN agencies with the working bodies of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia should continue and be promoted in the coming period.
