MEETING OF PRESIDENT XHAFERI WITH AMBASSADOR ABDRASHOV 

Today, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, had the first official meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Republic of North Macedonia, H.E. Zhanibek Abdrashov. 

President Xhaferi, wishing a warm welcome to Ambassador Abdrashov, emphasized the excellent cooperation with the previous Ambassador and the Embassy of Kazakhstan, and expressed hope that it will continue with a greater dynamics. The President reaffirmed the benefits from the excellent and friendly relations between the two countries, whereby he especially underlined the parliamentary democracy in promoting bilateral and multilateral relations, the political dialogue and dimensioning of the overall cooperation between the two countries. The President expressed satisfaction from the successful negotiation on three key agreements in the legal field, such as the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons, and the Agreement on Extradition. At the same time he informed the Ambassador on the ongoing activities of the Assembly, as well as on his initiative for considering the possibilities for the Assembly to work remotely, i.e. part of the MPs who due to health reasons are not able to provide physical presence at the sessions. 

Ambassador Abdrashov thanked for the warm reception in the house of democracy and agreed that the relations between Kazakhstan and the Republic of North Macedonia are friendly. He congratulated President Xhaferi on the successful commitment for membership of the country in NATO and the Euro-integrative process. 
Also, he underlined that the closer inter-parliamentary cooperation at the level of Parliamentary Groups for Cooperation, with joint interest, will continue as soon as health conditions related to the COVID 19 pandemics will allow.  His Excellency stated that his upcoming mission will include strengthening the economic cooperation of both countries, increase of commerce exchange and initiating investment activities between the two countries.

The interlocutors expressed confidence in further cooperation, joint support at multilateral level and strengthening the inter-parliamentary relations at various levels.
