MEETING OF THE PARLIAMENT SPEAKER XHAFERI WITH THE CHARGE D'AFFAIRES AT THE EMBASSY OF UKRAINE IN THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. ROSTISLAV PALAGUSINEC

The President of the Assembly of Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi today held a meeting with the charge d'affaires at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Rostislav Palagusinec. 

Mr. Rostislav Palagusinec congratulated the election of Mr. Talat Xhaferi as the President of the Assembly of Republic of Macedonia and wished him every success in carrying out this significant function, considering that the Parliament has a substantial role in accomplishing the planned reforms. He congratulated the Speaker on behalf of Mr. Andriy Parubiy, the Chairman of Verkhovna Rada (the Parliament) of Ukraine. He handed the President - three documents -– addresses from Verkhovna Rada to partner states of Ukraine.

Charge d'affaires at the Embassy of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the continuous support that Republic of Macedonia is providing to Ukraine, especially for the parliamentary support within international assemblies, as members of which are also the assemblies of both countries. He also informed that on May 20th 2017 in Verkhovna Rada in Ukraine was established the Parliamentary group for international relations with the Republic of Macedonia. 

The President of the Assembly of Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi expressed gratitude for the congratulations and underlined that the unconditional support to Ukraine will also continue in the future. In that direction, the Speaker informed that he will send an invitation to the President of Verkhovna Rada in Ukraine to visit the Republic of Macedonia which will provide additional support to the inter-parliamentary cooperation. While stressing out that during this parliamentary mandate also a Parliamentary group for cooperation with the Assembly of Ukraine will  be established, the Speaker, Mr. Xhaferi emphasized that this group will be the most convenient for initiating a response to the documents sent by Verkhovna Rada in Ukraine.

The President of the Assembly, Mr. Xhaferi informed about the upcoming activities of the Assembly of Republic of Macedonia, underlining that from now on the Assembly will be opened to the citizens who will be able to follow the sessions of the Assembly. According to the Speaker, Mr. Xhaferi the presence of the citizens in parliamentary sessions represents inclusion of the general public in the legislative process, and a new impulse to calm tensions.

At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors expressed hope that the cooperation between Macedonia and Ukraine on a parliamentary level will continue to deepen, both at bilateral and multilateral level.
