Meeting of the President Xhaferi and the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, H.E. Pedro Pablo San Jorge Rodriguez
At today’s meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, H.E. Pedro Pablo San Jorge Rodriguez the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi underlined the friendly relations between the two states, as well as the need for intensification and deepening thereof.
He informed the Ambassador that the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia has established a Parliamentary Group for Cooperation with the Parliaments from Latin America and the Caribbean. In this direction, as President of the Assembly, Mr. Xhaferi underlined that he will contribute in strengthening the parliamentary cooperation between the two states.
The President Xhaferi underlined the good multilateral cooperation, especially in the framework of UN for Lifting the USA Embargo to Cuba. The President Xhaferi also supported the ratification of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two Ministries on Foreign Affairs and expressed hope that other bilateral agreements in the areas of economy and culture will be ratified in the future.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, H.E. Pedro Pablo San Jorge Rodriguez expressed his pleasure and appreciation for the meeting with the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and expressed hope that this first meeting will be the impetus for broadening and strengthening the future cooperation among the states.
He also conveyed the greetings from the President of the Cuban Parliament, as well as the open invitation to the President Xhaferi to visit the Republic of Cuba in the forthcoming period.
The Ambassador of Cuba emphasised the friendly political and diplomatic relations between the Republic of Macedonia and Cuba, especially in the framework of UN and underlined that Cuba appreciates the support of the Republic of Macedonia for the adoption of the Resolution for lifting the USA embargo on Cuba.
The Ambassador underlined the support of Cuba on the path of the Euro – Atlantic integration of our state and in this context welcomed the Agreement on Good Neighbourly Relations and Cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Bulgaria, as another step for approaching the EU.
The interlocutors agreed that they will work towards deepening the mutual cooperation in the period to come.
