The Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Xhaferi held a meeting with the co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi held a meeting with the co-rapporteurs of the Committee on the Honoring the obligations and commitments of the member countries upon admission in the Council of Europe, Mrs. Lise Christoffersen, Member of the Parliament from Norway, and Mr. Valeriu Ghiletchi , member of the Parliament from Moldova, who within the framework of post - monitoring dialogue are in a two - day visit to the Republic of Macedonia.
The conversation of the rapporteurs with the Speaker, Mr.Xhaferi focused on the events that took place after the early parliamentary elections in December 2016, on the overcome of political crisis, on the current political situation and on the resolution of future challenges.
The rapporteurs wished the Speaker success in his work and voiced expectation that the Delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will be established soon, which will reflect the arrangement of the powers in the Parliament and with which they will closely cooperate.
The post - monitoring dialogue that currently is in the Republic of Macedonia, aims to support the progress towards democracy, respect of human rights and the rule of law, as well as to completely fulfill the obligations regarding all the conventions of the Council of Europe, towards which the country has accessed.
The dialogue is based on the assessments for the situation and the progress which is made in cooperation with the national authorities.
