Parliament Speaker Xhaferi meets Slovenian Ambassador Mr. Jazbec 

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi, met today in an official visit with the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Milan Jazbec. 

First the Ambassador related the official congratulations of the President of the Slovenian Parliament and expressions of sincere expectations that the current and highly developed bilateral relations between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Slovenia will continue in the future. Parliament Speaker, Mr. Talat Xhaferi, thanking for the congratulations, voiced his belief that the bilateral relations will continue to follow an upward trend in all aspects. 

Referring to the deplorable events of 27 April and the current situation, Parliament Speaker Xhaferi underlined that he will personally make an effort to restore the institutional integrity of the Assembly and to strengthen citizens’ trust in this institution. He expects that the president of the country will fulfill his constitutional role and grant the mandate to the party with parliamentary majority which will start the process of forming parliamentary bodies and consequently forming the new government. Afterwards the priority will be placed on modifying the Electoral Code and continuing the mandate of the current local self-government until fall when local elections are expected to be held. 

The Ambassador underlined that the several-decade long relations of understanding and friendship between the two countries and close relations between the citizens, represent a large capital and investment in the future. The Republic of Slovenia will continue to offer its strong and clear support for Macedonia's Euro-Atlantic integration bid. Furthermore, parliamentary cooperation and diplomacy will continue to be fostered and advanced as well as economic and cultural ties.  

Finally, Parliament Speaker, Mr. Talat Xhaferi, announced that he will personally invite his counterpart, the President of the Slovenian Parliament to come to an official visit to the Republic of Macedonia which will provide a significant impulse in the development of bilateral relations but also in regional and European context.
