PARLIAMENT SPEAKER XHAFERI MEETS WITH ALBANIAN AMBASSADOR FATOS REKA
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi, had an official meeting today with the Albanian Ambassador to the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Fatos Reka, who congratulated him on being elected President of the Assembly emphasizing this as a highly important step in stabilizing the political situation in the Republic of Macedonia.
Ambassador Reka underlined the need to maintain the continuity of good and friendly relations between the two countries in the future sharing his belief that the positive trend of good-neighbourly relations will be preserved. Furthermore, he re-affirmed the strong support for Macedonia’s EU integration bid which the Republic of Albania, as a NATO member, will continue to provide.
Internally speaking, the Republic of Albania will continue to pay special attention to state policy as to providing constitutional and legal guarantees regarding the status of the Macedonian minority and all other minorities in the Republic of Albania.
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Xhaferi voiced confidence that friendly inter-state relations will continue in the future with the same intensity and especially thanked for the support extended to Macedonia in its efforts to join NATO emphasizing that the support comes from our immediate neighbor and represents a move that is highly appreciated and more than welcome in this sensitive period.
The two interlocutors shared their mutual belief that only a showdown of constructive political concepts can be successful in this region, while any other ideas of inter-state, inter-ethnic and international conflicts would be pre-doomed to failure.
They also exchanged opinion on the comprehensive bilateral relations between the two countries where it was ascertained that the stability of the Republic of Macedonia plays a vital part in the overall stability of the Western Balkans – a stability that produces a positive momentum in the EU integration of all the countries in the region.
