PRESIDENT XHAFERI MET WITH H.E. GJERGJ DEDAJ
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo, H.E. Gjergj Dedaj.
President Xhaferi expressed satisfaction with the good and constructive bilateral relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Kosovo, as well as the fruitful inter-parliamentary cooperation. He assessed the cooperation within the Parliamentary Assembly of the South East European Cooperation Process as particularly important, extending congratulations on the successful completion of the presidency of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo with this important forum for political and diplomatic dialogue. He pledged to promote the economic cooperation and infrastructural connection between North Macedonia and Kosovo, emphasizing that the opening of new border crossings will greatly facilitate business initiatives and communication between citizens.
Ambassador Dedaj offered congratulations on the democratically conducted parliamentary elections and the re-election of Xhaferi as President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia. Assessing that the country is moving in the right direction, he expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with the institutions of the Republic of North Macedonia and welcomed the historic progress with the NATO membership and the encouraging results for the start of EU negotiations. The ambassador referred to the situation in Kosovo and the Economic Normalization Agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia, signed in Washington, as historic.
The meeting also discussed the health, economic and social challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, and it was assessed that joint action and cooperation between the countries in the region is necessary to overcome the consequences of the pandemic, as well as to find a way to alleviate and complete liberalization of the movement of citizens between states.
The interlocutors agreed that the common strategic goals and commitments of North Macedonia and Kosovo guarantee that the practice of fostering good neighbourly relations will continue and pledged to further enhance bilateral communication.
At the end of the meeting, President Talat Xhaferi wished Agim Krasniqi, the new Consul General of the Republic of Kosovo in the Republic of North Macedonia based in Struga, who also attended the meeting, a successful mandate.
