ADDRESS OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA MR.TRAJKO VELJANOSKI on the occation of the commemoration of the 1,100 years since the death of St. Naum the Miracle Maker

Today’s special session of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia is in a way finalization of the commemoration of the 1,100 years since the death of St. Naum the Miracle Maker who, together with St. Clement of Ohrid, was the closest follower and student of the holy brothers Ss. Cyril and Methodius. The commemoration included various scientific gatherings and cultural events evoking the life and work of St. Naum the Miracle Maker. Besides the Macedonian Orthodox Church – the Ohrid Archdiocese and the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, various state institutions were also actively included in all these events.

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski, once again, expressed appreciation from the warm and hospitable welcoming, underlining that the Republic of Macedonia is a true friend of the State of Israel and considers its vital interests. The Republic of Macedonia as a Member State of NATO and EU will support the State of Israel. Underlining the appreciation from the high level of visits during this year, the President Veljanoski underlined that this demonstrates the intensive development of the relations between the two states

MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA WITH HIS COUNTERPART, THE SPEAKER OF THE ISRAELI KNESSET MR. REUVEN RIVLIN

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Trajko Veljanoski met with his colleague, the Speaker of the Knesset Mr. Reuven Rivlin. This is the first official visit of a President of the Macedonian Assembly to the State of Israel. The hosts organized an official welcoming ceremony in honour of President Veljanoski with fanfares, raising of the flags of the two countries, playing of the national anthems, and inspection of the Guard of Honour. President Veljanoski also laid a wreath at the Gal-Ed memorial for the Israel’s fallen soldiers

Eleven centuries ago, the Republic of Macedonia was far from being on the periphery of the world. On the contrary, it was an important religious, spiritual and educational centre from which the spiritual and cultural values were spread throughout the Christian world. The Macedonian nation and the other ethic communities that live in the Republic of Macedonia can be proud of the fact that the holy brothers Ss. Cyril and Methodius and their students St. Clement and St. Naum lived and worked in this region.

MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI AND THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF THE DISABILITY ORGANIZATIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA

The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia expressed pleasure about the meeting of the Representatives of the National Council this year as well and congratulated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. In the same time, the President reaffirmed the support of all MPs from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia regardless of their political, national and religious belonging in the adoption of more useful and more quality legislative solutions which refer to disabled persons. He also expressed his readiness to make efforts for sooner ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as well as surpassing part of the problems these organizations are facing with and adequate implementation of their proposals.
