The European Parliament adopted the Report on the Republic of Macedonia

The MEPs, with majority votes adopted the Report on the Republic of Macedonia  submitted by the Slovenian MEP Mr. Zoran Thaler, Rapporteur for the Republic of Macedonia . 548 MEPs voted “for”, 45 “against” and 35 abstained from the voting.

The new European Commission

With 488 votes “for”, 137 against and 72 abstaining MEPs supported the set of the New European Commission. These new 26 members are led by the President Barroso; this is Mr. Barroso’s second mandate. The President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek congratulated the election to Mr. Barroso.

The MEPs will debate on the aspirations of Macedonia towards EU

MEPs will discuss the European Union aspirations of Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey on Wednesday 10 February. issues to focus on include reform of the public administration and judiciary, the fight against corruption and the improvement of women’s rights and inter-ethnic relations as well as efforts to find a mutually satisfactory solution to the name issue" with Greece
