global campaign for prevention from the cervical cancer "pearl of wisdom" 

The Women Parliamentarians Club had a Meeting with the Union for Fight Against Cancer- BORKA on the occasion of the global campaign for prevention from the cervical cancer "Pearl of Wisdom". The Meeting was held in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. 

The Coordinator of the Women Parliamentarians Club, Ms. Katerina Dimeska, the Head of the Union for Fight Against Cancer "Borka", Ms. Biba Dodeva, Ms. Julieta Marku  and other Women MPs and Members of the Women  Parliamentarians Club and Representatives of the NGO Sector participated in this meeting. 

In the framework of the regular work and realization of the program, the Women Parliamentarians Club organizes meetings with civil associations and other subjects, aiming to inform the public on particular issues- underlined the Coordinator of the Women Parliamentarians Club, Ms. Katerina Dimeska. 

In the Republic of Macedonia the cervical cancer is the second cause on the list of deadly malign diseases for women. About 300 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer a year, and this disease is fatal for almost half of them. 

The Head of the Union for Fight Against Cancer "Borka", Ms. Biba Dodeva  presented the program and the activities of the Union. 
From 24- 31 January, the Union for Fight Against Cancer "Borka- for Each New Day", which is a full fledged member of the European Association for Cervical Cancer (ECCA), in cooperation with the Union for Human Papiloma Virus (HPV) from the Republic of Macedonia, organizes educational campaigns around the country. 

This educational campaigns follow the global campaign "Pearl of Wisdom 2011", which aims to call upon all girls and women to do everything to prevent cervical cancer- gynecologic checks, PAP tests, responsible sexual behavior and measures for protection from STDs as well as through the regular program for vaccination against HPV. 

The participants welcomed the initiative for this type of campaign, which treat the women's problems in general, underlining that "Borka" educated women from all areas of our country, including the most distant rural areas.
