MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE VLACH COMMUNITY

President Veljanoski received a delegation of the Vlach League and Vlach Culture Union in the Republic of Macedonia.
The guests spoke about their activities aimed at promoting the cultural, social and political status of the Vlachs in the country. They expressed belief that broader representation of the smaller ethnic communities is needed in the Assembly, which will ensure larger number of representatives of the Vlach community.

PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI RECEIVED A DELEGATION OF THE UNION OF ASSOCIATIONS OF MACEDONIANS FROM THE AEGEAN PART OF MACEDONIA

During the meeting the implementation was discussed of the Resolution on the Refugees in the Military Actions in the Republic of Greece During the Civil War and the Second World War, adopted by the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia in August 2008. The President of the Association, Mr. Gjorgi Donevski, talked about the importance of the Resolution and the impetus it provided to the activities of the associations and their efforts to ensure restoration of property of the Macedonians from the Aegean Macedonia and the recently initiated actions to claim Republic of Greece nationality.

PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI RECEIVED A DELEGATION OF THE MACEDONIA FRIENDSHIP GROUP IN THE FRENCH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

President of the Assembly, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski received the Members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for the Republic of Macedonia in the French National Assembly, led by the Group Chairman, Mr. Philippe Duron.
The President of the Assembly welcomed the visit and the strengthened high-level cooperation during the last months between France and Macedonia. In that sense he mentioned his recent meeting with his counterpart, the President of the French National Assembly, Mr. Bernard Accoyer, and the French Senator, Mr. Robert Badinter, as well as the latest meeting of the Prime Minister, Mr. Nikola Gruevski with the French President Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy. Similarly, Macedonian parliamentary delegations were recently hosted by the Foreign Affairs Committee and the French Parliamentary TV Channel.

PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, Mr. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI MET THE GERMAN BUNDESTAG MEMBERS - Mr. WALTER KOLBOW, CHAIRMAN OF THE SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC PARLIAMENTARY GROUP AND Mr. ANDREAS LAMMEL, MP FROM THE CHRISTIAN DEMOCRATIC UNION

The talks focused on the cooperation between the two Parliaments. President Veljanoski stated that the various forms of cooperation have contributed to the promotion of the overall relations between the two countries and to strengthening the Assembly's democratic capacity.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC, Mr. PREMYSL SOBOTKA ON AN OFFICIAL VISIT OF TO THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA UPON AN INVITATION BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, Mr. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI

Both sides stressed the highly developed relations between the two Parliaments and the overall relations between the two countries. The President of the Assembly, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski emphasized that the Republic of Macedonia highly appreciates the principled support of the Czech Republic for Macedonia's Euro-Atlantic integration. "As a legislative house, we have very seriously and responsibly carried out the tasks that are part of our Euro-Atlantic agenda", said President Veljanoski. He reminded that the Republic of Macedonia, having fulfilled all the criteria for lifting of the visa regime, believes that by the end of the Czech Presidency of the European Union, the European Commission will recommend visa liberalisation for the Macedonian citizens, and that by the end of the year we will be given date for starting negotiations. "We are part of Europe and have fulfilled all the criteria, so we justly expect that the European standards and principles will be duly respected by the EU institutions", stated President Veljanoski.

PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, Mr.TRAJKO VELJANOSKI MET THE PRESIDENT OF THE PARLIAMENT OF THE KINGDOM OF NORWAY AND CANDIDATE FOR THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE SECRETARY GENERAL, Mr. THORBJORN JAGLAND

During the unofficial meeting, the President of the Assembly Mr. Trajko Veljanoski stressed the friendly relations between the two countries and the principled support of Norway for our commitment to join NATO. "I regard this meeting as an opportunity for deepening our parliamentary cooperation, at all levels and in various forms. Taking as the starting point the fact that you are one of the candidates for the CoE Secretary General, I should like to emphasise that the Republic of Macedonia has fully embraced and applied the basic principles of the oldest European association - democracy, human rights and rule of law. These principles and standards are dynamic and need to be continuously promoted. Therefore, our country and our Parliament value highly the Council of Europe's role and I believe that, as a small country, we provide significant contribution in the implementation of these principles", stressed President Veljanoski.

PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, Mr. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI MET THE PRESIDENT OF THE OSCE PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY, Mr. JOAO SOARES

During the meeting, the President of the Assembly, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski stressed that, being a full OSCE member, Macedonia fully respects and applies the basic principles and commitments of this international association. He expressed gratitude for the role the OSCE played in the overall process of transition of the Macedonian society and institutions. President Veljanoski once again reminded of the importance of the visa liberalisation for the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia, which they deserve on the basis of the accomplished reforms and progress in that area, including the recent well-conducted elections, positively assessed by the ODIHR.
