MEETING BETWEEN PRESIDENT XHAFERI AND OMBUDSMAN ZIBERI
Today, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi, met with the Ombudsman of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Naser Ziberi, on the occasion of the presentation of the 2020 Annual Report on the work of the Ombudsman of the Republic of North Macedonia. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Suzana Saliu, Deputy Ombudsman.
Issues related to the work and competencies of the Ombudsman were discussed at the meeting, as well as other current topics and activities. Ombudsman Ziberi spoke about the personnel issues in the institution he represents, the nature and number of complaints submitted by citizens with the intention of exercising and protecting their civil rights, as well as the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in the context of the complaints and the work of the institutions.
President Xhaferi expressed interest in the raised topics and the content of the Annual Report of the Ombudsman, and informed about the work of the Assembly, the current goals and activities.
The meeting concluded that the relationship between the Ombudsman and the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia is good, efficient and correct in relation to the Annual Report. President Xhaferi said that MPs will be informed of the above in a timely manner and, consequently, parliamentary procedure will be initiated for reviewing the Report and for adoption of the recommendations that will arise from it.
