Meeting of President Veljanoski and the Delegation from the Assembly with the Macedonian immigrants in Canada

The dispute over the name with Greece, the simplification of the procedure for acquiring Macedonian citizenship in order to vote at the elections in 2012, the economic situation and the possibilities for Canadian investments, the protection and promotion of the Macedonian language, culture and tradition, these were some of the topics raised by the Macedonian immigrants in Toronto at the meeting with President Veljanoski and the Members of the Delegation of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia.

Welcoming the Macedonian parliamentarians, the Speaker of the Canadian Senate, the Honourable Noel A. Kinsella, pointing out that the relations between the two countries have a long history and that Canada has no problem in using the word Macedonia.

Macedonia and Canada – right friends at the right time

The Republic of Macedonia sees in Canada a right friend at the right time. We are grateful for the support Canada is giving to the Republic of Macedonia, for the recognition of the constitutional name, for the consistent position regarding our NATO membership, as well as for the possibility for the Macedonian settlers to enjoy every right in Canada. These are some of the points President Veljanoski emphasized during the meeting with his Canadian colleague, the Speaker of the House of Commons of the Parliament of Canada, Mr. Peter Milliken.

Meeting of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Trajko Vejlanoski and the Delegation from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia with their Canadian colleagues

At the meeting President Vejlanoski pointed out that although the Republic of Macedonia is a small country, because of its position and the measures that the current Government is undertaking it is very attractive for investments. The President of the Assembly informed the Canadian Members of Parliament that the state institutions are focused on creating favourable business climate, encouragement of the competition, international cooperation in the field of trade, and promotion of investments.
