MACEDONIA SHOULD FOCUS ON THE REMARKS FROM THE PROGRESS REPORT
The Delegation from the Committee on European Issues from the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, comprised of Ms. Hristina Runcheva, Head of the Delegation and the members of the Delegation: Ms. Slavica Grkovska Loshkova and Ms. Ermira Mehmeti- Devaja, had meetings with the MEPs: Mr. Zoran Thaler- Rapporteur for the Republic of Macedonia in the Foreign Affairs Committee of EP (AFET), Mr. Jorgo Chatzimarkakis - Co- Chairman of JPC- The Republic of Macedonia- EU, Ms. Ana Ibrisagik Mr. Ivo Wajgel and Mr. Michael Cramer.
The European Integration of the Republic of Macedonia was the topic of the meetings. It was said that after the Progress Report is being published, AFET shall start the drafting of the Resolution for the progress of the Country for the next year and it is expected that it will be submitted for approval to the European Parliament during the first quarter of the next year.
The Rapporteur to AFET Mr. Thaler underlined that in the following period the Republic of Macedonia should focus on the realization of the remarks fro the Progress Report 2010.
The discussions also covered the need for reaching a compromising solution for the imposed issue by Greece regarding our constitutional name.
The delegation, also participated in the work of the Conference of the National Parliaments of the Member States and the Candidate States for membership in the European Union “After the Crisis: How will Europe Face the Challenges?”. The introductory address was provided by the President of the European Commission, Mr. Jose Manuel Barroso and the Belgian Prime Minister Mr. Yves Leterme who underlined the role of the national parliaments in the solution of the important European issues, such as the economic crises, as well as the European institutions which also gained competences with the implementation of the Lisbon Treaty.
