SECOND REGIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE PARLIAMENTARY RESEARCH SERVICES "EFFECTS OF THE MIGRANT CRISIS ON THE COUNTRIES OF SOUTHEASTERN EUROPE"
On July 8th, 2016, the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia hosted a regional conference organized by the Parliamentary Institute which was attended by representatives of parliamentary research services from Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Slovenia and Macedonia. Representatives from various international governmental and non-governmental organizations, including SDC, NDI, IOM and OSCE participated at the conference, too.
A joint research paper on "Effects of the migrant crisis on the countries of Southeastern Europe", prepared by parliamentary research services which participated in the conference was presented on this occasion.
The subject matter of the joint research paper The Migrant Crisis in the Region of Southeastern Europe, is a real challenge for any contemporary parliamentary research service, because of its relevance and the main mission of parliamentary research services - to provide objective, relevant and timely information to the decision makers in the legislative bodies.
Besides the findings of the joint research paper, participants of the Regional conference also discussed the possibilities to enhance the cooperation between parliamentary research services in Southeastern Europe and possibilities for its further development.
