Address of the President Xhaferi on the Occasion of World Children’s Day

Distinguished Ombudsman Memeti,
Dear Children,
Esteemed Guests,

Allow me to express how joyful I am to be here, with you on this beautiful day - World Children's Day, and greet you on behalf of the Members of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia and on my own behalf. To say that although the Universal Declaration and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child establishes 20 November as the Universal Children's Day, it does not mean that the remaining 364 days we should not celebrate it; advocate, protect your rights and enable your growth and progress. You are our responsibility, our conscience, and what we embody in you, what we teach you and what we set as an example for you, is what you will later turn this world into.

The Honourable John F. Kennedy said "Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see". If we want that time to be a time of peace, security, prosperity and time of happy children/citizens because a person is a person, no matter how physically small, then we should make sure that no child in the world is deprived of the right to live, the right to family and family warmth, the right to express one’s thoughts, be heard and see that actions have been taken upon these expressed thoughts. No child shall be a victim of violence of any kind, a victim of forced labour, a witness to war or, worse, a participant in war conflicts.

Thank you for putting your trust in me with this Message and I encourage you to continue this "March for Equal Rights of All Children" starting from the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia. This is your home, this is your city and this is your world, walk boldly and confidently, be the harbinger of the bright future for everyone!

Congratulations!!!
