THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI HAD A MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE PRESIDENCY OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA, MR. ŽELJKO KOMŠIĆ

At the beginning of the meeting, the President Veljanoski underlined that the relations between the two countries are being developed in a positive direction, considering the reciprocal visits on every level. Mr. Veljanoski underlined that the time has come for the countries of the Region to look forward and to become Full-fledged Members of the European Union and NATO. Unfortunately, the Republic of Macedonia, because of the well known reasons is not part of these institutions besides the reforms, the success, the three consecutive positive EC Progress Reports in the 6 years period as Candidate State for Member in EU. The President Veljanoski underlined that the Republic of Macedonia welcomes the success of its neighbours on the path to the European Union, since the membership of all courtiers from the Region will benefit the European Union itself, as well as all its Member States.

THIRD MEETING OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR EUROPEAN INTEGRATION

At its third Meeting, the National Council for European Integration discussed the European Commission 2011 Progress Report on the Republic of Macedonia. A representative from the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary to the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Marta Przenioslo, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Macedonia, and Ms. Marina Kurte, adviser on European integration and legal issues in the EU Delegation to the Republic of Macedonia, attended the meeting.

Today, we commemorate the efforts of the fathers of the Organization who, strongly believing in the achievability of freedom, decided to take matters in their own hands and provide the Macedonian independence and dignity through personal sacrifice.

THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI HAD A MEETING WITH THE EMIR OF THE STATE OF QATAR, HIS HIGHNESS SHEIKH HAMAD BIN KHALIFA AL THANI

At the beginning of the meeting, the President Veljanoski expressed his conviction that the meeting will contribute in the cooperation with the State of Qatar and the exchange of opinions of mutual interest on bilateral and multilateral areas. He espressed his appreciation for the development of the bilateral  relations between the two countries characterised with a high degree of friendship and understanding, and underlined that there is great potential for further promotion of all areas of mutual interest, especially in the area of economy, in direction of realization of concrete projects for investments in the Republic of Macedonia.

OPENING EMBASSIES AND INCREASED ECONOMIC COOPERATION - IMPORTANT GOALS FOR THE RELATIONS BETWEEN MACEDONIA AND KUWAIT

Macedonia and Kuwait are friendly countries that should work on intensification of the economic cooperation because they this would be in the interest of both countries. In order to increase the cooperation various obstacles have to be overcome, such as the visa regime, the absence of direct air-flights, embassies etc. This were the main points during in the discussion between the members of the Parliamentary Group of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia for Cooperation with the countries from the Middle East and the Delegation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly of Kuwait for with the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia.

PROTOCOL MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI AND THE NEWLY APPOINTED AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF HUNGARY TO THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA

The President Veljanoski welcomed the fact that the Republic of Hungary is one of the biggest investors in our country and underlined the future cooperation in the area of economy. The interlocutors expressed their conviction that the Republic of Macedonia will become Member Sate of the European Union, which will additionally contribute to the regional stability and security. The President underlined that the Republic of Macedonia, beside the fact that it is not a Member of NATO, takes all the obligations as the Full-fledged Members of NATO. The President Veljanoski welcomed the good relations between the two parliaments, reminding of the ratified Memorandum of Cooperation between the two parliaments during his official visit to Hungary in 2008.

FIRST WORKSHOP FROM THE IPA PROJECT ON THE ROLE OF NATIONAL PARLIAMENTS IN THE EU

The focus of this workshop was to provide the MPs with a general understanding on the role of national parliaments in the European Union, with special emphasis on the new elements introduced by the Lisbon Treaty. This workshop, held in Boris Trajkovski Hall, was especially aimed at the MPs who are members of the European Affairs Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee, the National Council for European Integration, and the Joint Parliamentary Committee (European Union-Republic of Macedonia).
