THE PRESIDENT VELJANOSKI HAD A MEETING WITH THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY, MR. RECEP TAYYIP ERDOGAN

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr, Veljanoski expressed his pleasure from the meeting and referred to the traditionally good and friendly relations. In this direction he underlined the appreciation for the principle and constructive support of the Republic of Turkey for the Republic of Macedonia in the framework of the Euro Atlantic integration, especially the principle usage of the constitutional name of our country in the bilateral relations and on international level.

meeting of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski and MR. ROBERT WALTER, RAPPORTEUR OF THE COMMITTEE HONOURING THE OBLIGATIONS AND COMMITMENTS BY THE MEMBER STATE OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE (MONITORING COMMITTEE)

At the beginning of the meeting the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski referred to the recent achievements and events in the Republic of Macedonia. He underlined the successfully executed early    parliamentary elections, which affirmed the democratic capacity of the Republic of Macedonia and which were evaluated as successful. Also, in the context of our successful engagements he reminded of the last year’s successful Chairmanship with the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski briefly referred to the events and the achievements of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia in the past period. First and foremost, he underlined the positive achievements of the Assembly in the past two years, who brought the Assembly highest evaluation in the Progress Report for the Republic of Macedonia and which contributed for the overall positive evaluation of the Republic of Macedonia.

In September 1997 the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) adopted the Universal Declaration on Democracy, and in 2007, on the tenth anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration, the United Nations declared September 15th - International Day of Democracy.

Address by President Veljanoski at the special session on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Macedonia

The Republic of Macedonia is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its independence.
These days we proudly remember the past two decades during which we realized the age-old dreams of the previous generations.
Our homeland is paying respect to the successes from the past, at the same time looking towards the future.
There is no greater confirmation of the love and respect we fell towards our country than our unity demonstrated this 8 September, when we celebrate the realization of the ancient Macedonian dream for creation of an independent state

Mr. Hasipi said that he was honoured and pleased that this first meeting between them comes at a period when the Republic of Macedonia is marking the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Ohrid Framework Agreement. Mr. Hasipi assessed the Conference dedicated to the Framework Agreement as successful and expressed hope that the European spirit that could be felt at the Conference will be spread in the whole society.
